    Question

How do you lace up the shirt perfectly to get the perfect cris cross design. I was never able to do it, can someone please help me.

Think shoelaces! The top is a straight and then you cross the back area first, put through the laces cross the front, then redo.. next you will have the last two holes, make sure the laces are out and not in the inside area. tie the strings together and you are done.

Does anyone know the authenticity of the criss cross lacing on this dress? Would that be the type of lacing used? I have friends who do reenactment from the 1600 ands a lot of beginners lace their dresses like this, when paintings from the era show they should be laced in a different pattern. (Either horizontal, or in more of a spiral [starting from one side and going back and forth as you go up]) than a criss cross

How did colonial women actually lace their dresses?
